Restaurant marketing / the search side

A restaurant marketing agency for search, and straight about the rest

Your marketing runs on several lines at once: Google and Maps, Instagram, the email list, the delivery apps, events, the shop next door. We run the search line, say plainly which lines we don't, and show how to judge whoever does.

Case result: a window tinting company in California went from about 5 leads a week to more than 280 with city pages and content writing (February to July 2025). Not a restaurant.

Restaurant marketing, mapped

Restaurant marketing channel by channel, and where search fits

Restaurant marketing is everything that gets a guest in once and back again. No single channel does both jobs, so the useful question is which job each one does for you, and who is on it.

Search catches the person already hungry and choosing. It doesn't depend on you posting today, and it doesn't switch off when a budget runs out, the way ads do.

Station list / seven channelsWho is on it

  1. 01Google Search and Maps

Catches people at the moment they choose: "dumplings near me", "patio dinner tonight", your name plus "hours".

Reaches: New guests nearby, and regulars checking your hours or menu.

Us. It is the whole job of our packages.

  2. 02Instagram, TikTok, Facebook

Shows the room, the specials and the people behind them between visits.

Reaches: Mostly people who already follow you.

You, your staff or a social media manager. Not us.

  3. 03Email and text messages

Brings regulars back on a slow night, through a list you own. Texts generally need consent first and emails an unsubscribe link; rules vary, and this is not legal advice.

Reaches: Guests who gave you an email or a number.

You, or a specialist. Not us.

  4. 04Delivery apps

Puts you in front of people browsing the app and can handle delivery. Our online ordering for restaurants work makes sure a regular who searches your name finds your own order page.

Reaches: New guests, and regulars who would have ordered direct.

You and the app. The app commission calculator shows what direct orders keep, on your numbers.

  5. 05Events and private dining

Fills a set night: trivia, wine dinners, buyouts. Planners search weeks ahead for things like "holiday party venue downtown".

    Reaches: Offices, families and groups.

You run the night. We make sure the event and private dining pages can be found.

  6. 06Local partnerships

The brewery next door, the hotel front desk, the office that orders lunch on Fridays.

Reaches: People who already trust the partner.

You; it runs on relationships. A link from a partner's site also adds to prominence, which Google weighs for local results.

  7. 07Print and in the room

Table tents, bag inserts, receipts, the window sign.

Reaches: Guests already inside, or walking past.

You and your printer. A QR code can point at your review link or your own order page.

How to judge a restaurant marketing company in five questions

Use them on any agency, us included. A good one answers each in a sentence or two.

Read our terms first
  1. Ask 01

How long is the contract, and how do I leave?

    Walk away if

A twelve-month term with an exit fee on page four, or "we'll discuss it when the time comes".

    Our answer

Month to month, canceled by email. Or buy a package once, with no subscription at all.

  2. Ask 02

Who owns the Business Profile, the domain and the website?

    Walk away if

The agency registers your domain in its own name, or holds the only owner login to your profile.

    Our answer

You stay the owner of all three. We ask to be added as a manager or user, never as the owner.

  3. Ask 03

What exactly happens each month, and where do I see it?

    Walk away if

Reach, impressions and "brand awareness", with no list of the work that was done.

    Our answer

A monthly report: every link placed with its live URL, target page and anchor text, your positions for the agreed searches, and the changes made to your profile and listings.

  4. Ask 04

How do you build links, and can I open every one?

    Walk away if

A private network they won't name, or links you are not allowed to see.

    Our answer

Every guest post and Web 2.0 page is listed for you to open. The amplification links point at those, never at your site. Titanium adds a toxic link check.

  5. Ask 05

Do you guarantee rankings, covers or the top spot on Maps?

    Walk away if

They say yes. Nobody controls Google, and it weighs how far the searcher is from you, which no agency can change.

    Our answer

No guarantee. We commit to the work in your package, delivered on schedule and listed in writing.

A plan that fits on one sheet

A one-page marketing plan to pin above the office desk

A marketing plan for one restaurant, or a small group, doesn't need a deck. It needs one sheet, filled in with a pencil, pinned where the schedule hangs and checked once a month.

For a longer version with a made-up 60-seat bistro filled in line by line, read how to write a restaurant marketing plan in an afternoon.

Line 2 is the hard one to fill in from inside the restaurant. You know your regulars, but not what a stranger typed before choosing the place across the street. The free Maps audit shows you.

Marketing plan / 1 pagePencil only

  1. 1.

    Who you want more of

Pick one or two: weeknight covers, brunch, pickup orders, catering, private events.

  2. 2.

    Where they decide

The searches, apps and accounts they use to choose: "brunch near me", your name plus "menu".

  3. 3.

One number per goal, for 90 days

Something your POS or ordering system counts: Tuesday covers, direct orders a week, catering inquiries.

  4. 4.

    Channel, job and owner

One line per channel you will really run, with a name beside it. No name, no channel.

  5. 5.

    Money and hours

A monthly figure and the hours someone will spend. A channel nobody has time for is one you don't have.

  6. 6.

    Where each number comes from

POS reports, your ordering system, the performance view in your Business Profile, a "how did you hear about us" line on the catering form.

  7. 7.

    Review date

Twenty minutes on the first Monday of the month. Keep what moved its number; change what didn't.

Content writing / monthly plans

Restaurant content writing plans, priced by the month

Search runs on words: a catering page that names the dishes, a page for each private room, a post about the new brunch. If nobody on your team has the hours, a monthly plan writes them. Each price is for the month.

FAQ

What owners ask before hiring a restaurant marketing agency

Every price, including websites and content plans, is on the pricing page.

How much does a restaurant marketing agency cost?

It depends on what the agency runs. Ours: SEO packages from $125 to $575 a month, content plans from $26 a month, websites from $400 one time (quoted per project) and reputation work by custom quote. Agencies that run ads sometimes fold the ad spend into one monthly number, so ask any agency to split its own fee from the money that goes to Google or Meta.

What is the difference between restaurant marketing and restaurant SEO?

Restaurant marketing is every channel that brings guests in: social, email and text, events, partners, print, the apps, ads and search. Restaurant SEO is the search part: showing up on Google and Maps when someone nearby is choosing where to eat, and making your profile and site convincing once they see you. We do only the search part.

Do you run Instagram, Facebook or ads for restaurants?

No. We don't manage social accounts, run paid ads or send email and text campaigns. If you hire someone for those, our work gives them better places to send people: a menu page that loads fast, an order link that goes to you rather than an app, and an event page that answers a planner's questions.

How long before restaurant digital marketing through search shows results?

Profile and listing fixes are the quickest part and can show within weeks. Climbing for a contested search such as "tacos downtown" takes months of steady links and reviews, and how many depends on the places already above you. We report where you stand every month instead of promising a date.

Do you work with other restaurants near us?

We may. We don't sell exclusive neighborhoods or cuisines, so two places on one block can both be clients. Each gets its own keywords, campaign and report, and no client's data, reports or plans are ever shared with another. Better that you know this before you sign anything.

Who actually does the work?

The team behind this site, doing SEO since 2009 with more than 15,000 clients served. The same people write your audit, place and list your links and send your monthly report. You reach them by email, and you can ask for a call whenever that would be quicker.

How do I cancel if it is not working for us?

By email, whenever you decide. Packages run month to month and can be canceled anytime, so there is no long contract to buy your way out of. You can also buy any package once instead, from $140 for Silver to $620 for Titanium, and the free audit comes first so you can judge the fit.
