Calculator / Google reviews

How far behind the place above you are you on reviews?

Look both places up on Google Maps, enter the counts and ratings, and estimate each one's new reviews a month. You get the months to catch up at today's pace and the pace it would take to do it in a year.

Arithmetic on the numbers you enter, not a prediction of rankings. Google rounds the average it shows, and review count is one of many things that affect where you appear. Ask every guest the same way; never only the happy ones, and never for a discount.

Why the count matters, and why it isn't everything

Google says prominence is one of the three things it weighs for local results, and reviews are part of prominence. Diners read them too: a count, an average and how recently people wrote. A place with more recent reviews and replies from the owner looks open and cared for.

Count isn't the whole story. Distance from the searcher, your categories, the words on your menu pages and links to your site all play a part, which is why the place with the most reviews doesn't always win the top spot.

Raising the pace the right way

Ask every guest, the same way, at a good moment: a card with the check, a line in the online order confirmation, a QR code at the counter. Google's policies forbid asking only happy guests, rewarding reviews, and reviews from owners or staff. Every one of our packages includes setting up that routine; restaurant reputation management covers more involved cases.
